February United Way Volunteer Group of the Month

Posted June 7th, 2011

The Newberry Goodfellows have won the February Volunteer Group of the Month through the United Way of the Eastern Upper Peninsula’s Spotlight Recognition Program. The Goodfellows were nominated by CHAC. Every Christmas there are many families in this area that worry about not having a good meal or presents for their children at Christmas time. Throughout the year the Newberry Goodfellows raise funds to help ease the worries of those families. Presents and food are purchased and donated to help meet those needs. Volunteers then meet to wrap presents and put together food baskets for those families in need. Some would say that when deliveries are made it is as though Santa has come early raising spirits of all involved. The Newberry Goodfellows show what it means to help out in the local community.
